Dental Implant Treatment
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental Implants are replacements for missing teeth that provide the same function as your natural teeth. The biocompatible titanium implant is a replacement for the root structure. The implant mirrors the shape and size of your natural tooth root, as it is placed into your upper or lower jaw. Afterwards, a crown bridge or denture can then be cemented or screwed into place.
Dr. Welch believes that it is important to keep up with the latest technology and advances in the field. He attends numerous continuing educational courses and is a fellow with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Our office has a Gendex 700 CAT Scan that Dr. Welch uses for “virtual surgery” on every implant case. A 3D image is taken and then downloaded on the computer for Dr. Welch to examine. He then selects from the software the size, shape, brand and 3D position of the implant that will best fit into the 3D image of the jaw. The “virtual surgery” generates a surgical guide that helps Dr. Welch place the implant in optimal position.
